This is a great five-book series that follows Detective Inspector Darko Dawson in Ghana and gives you glimpses of culture and family as he solves twisty mysteries. I’m not sure why book 2 never got an audiobook—publishing, am I right?—but I technically started with book 3, then 1, and then 4 and 5, and I loved the series! Kinsey Millhone is a former police officer, now private investigator, created by Sue Grafton. Millhone is a bit eccentric, fussy, but gets the job done. One of the appealing things about this series is that each book is titled after a letter of the alphabet. Sadly, Grafton died before finishing the final book for the letter Z. This is book number 9 in the inspector Armand Gamache series and definitely our favorite of all of them (there are 12).
